Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a very short legal instrument that cancels (repeals) the old Quarantine (Cocos Islands) Regulations from 1982.

What it does: It removes a specific set of quarantine rules that previously applied to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
Who it affects: People and goods moving to or from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, as they will now be subject to the main Quarantine Act 1908 or other current regulations instead of the 1982 specific rules.
Why it matters: It tidies up the law books and ensures the Cocos Islands are treated consistently with modern quarantine arrangements, removing outdated provisions.
