#### 35C Person ordered into quarantine may seek an independent medical assessment (1) A person ordered into quarantine under section 35, 35AA or 35A who is, or is likely to be, suffering from a human quarantinable disease or a communicable disease, may request that a quarantine officer (human quarantine) arrange for a medical practitioner, nominated by the person, to provide the person with a written independent medical assessment of the person’s condition. (2) The quarantine officer (human quarantine) must arrange for the independent medical assessment to be provided if: (a) the person agrees to pay any fee or other amount required by the medical practitioner for providing the assessment; and (b) the medical practitioner agrees to provide the assessment. (3) A person may not make a request under subsection (1) during any period while: (a) a Proclamation by the Governor‑General under section 2B declaring the existence of an epidemic is in force; or (b) the Minister is taking quarantine measures, or measures incidental to quarantine, under section 12A. (4) A person who has been provided with a medical assessment may not make a further request under subsection (1) unless 72 hours have passed since that assessment was provided. (5) In this section: > medical practitioner means a person who is registered as a medical practitioner under a State or Territory law.
