Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does This Act increases the amount of money available to pay allowances to members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works for a single financial year (1962–63).

Key change It temporarily modifies the Public Works Committee Act 1913–1960 to raise the spending limit from £5,000 to £6,500—but only for the financial year ending 30 June 1963.

Who it affects

Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works (who received higher expense allowances that year)
The Commonwealth Treasury (which administered the increased appropriation)

Why it matters It ensured the Committee had adequate funding to cover members' costs while inspecting and reporting on Commonwealth public works projects during that specific 12‑month period, without permanently altering the long‑term funding framework.
