Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This regulation simply cancels (repeals) an earlier set of workplace rules—the Public Service (Territory Offices) Regulations 1975.

Who it affects: Commonwealth public servants who worked in Australian territories (such as the Northern Territory or Australian Capital Territory) and their employers. By repealing the 1975 regulations, this instrument removes specific rules that governed employment conditions for public servants in those locations.

Why it matters: This is a 'housekeeping' law that cleans up the statute book by removing outdated regulations. This likely occurred because the 1975 rules were replaced by newer laws, became unnecessary due to administrative changes, or were tied to territories transitioning toward self-government. It keeps the legal framework clear by formally removing rules that are no longer in force.
