### 42 Referral of public interest disclosures to relevant public body for investigation > > (1) Subject to [subsection (2)](#GS42@Gs2@EN) , the Ombudsman may refer a disclosed matter to a public body to investigate if – > > > > > > (a) the matter relates to a member, officer or employee of the public body; and > > > > > > > (b) the Ombudsman considers it appropriate to do so. > > > (2) [Part 7](#HP7@EN) applies to the investigation of a matter referred to a public body under this section. > > > (3) Nothing in this section limits the operation of [section 41](#GS41@EN) .
