34 Duration of licences
(1) The Secretary may grant or renew a licence for—
(a) a period of 12 months, or
(b) a shorter period specified in the licence.
(2) A licence—
(a) takes effect on the day stated in the licence, and
(b) remains in effect for the period for which the licence has been granted or renewed, unless sooner revoked or surrendered.
