#### 109 Cremated remains 109 Cremated remains > > (1) After cremating the body of a dead person, a cremation authority must, in accordance with any reasonable written directions left by the person or any reasonable directions of the applicant for the cremation— > > > > > (a) give the cremated remains to the applicant, or > > > > > (b) dispose of the cremated remains in a burial ground or in land adjoining the crematory reserved for the burial of cremated remains, or > > > > > (c) otherwise keep or dispose of the cremated remains. > > > > Maximum penalty—10 penalty units. > > > (2) If the cremated remains are to be given to the applicant, and the applicant does not take them within a reasonable time, the cremation authority must give 14 days’ notice to the applicant of the cremation authority’s intention to dispose of the cremated remains before disposing of them. > > > > Maximum penalty—10 penalty units.
