These regulations may be cited as the Public Health (Infringement Notices) Regulations 2022 .

Tasmania regulation
These regulations identify which offences in the Public Health Act 1997 may be dealt with by infringement notice and set the fine for each listed offence in penalty units (see Reg 4 and Schedule 1). Penalties differ for individuals, bodies corporate and, in a few cases, agencies. This affects people and organisations named in Schedule 1 by substituting fixed fines for court prosecution under section 169 of the Act, changing who pays and the compliance incentives for breaching the Act.

These regulations may be cited as the Public Health (Infringement Notices) Regulations 2022 .
These regulations take effect on 2 May 2022.
In these regulations –
Act means the Public Health Act 1997 .
For the purposes of section 169 of the Act –
(a) an offence against a provision of the Act that is specified in the table in Schedule 1 is a prescribed offence; and
(b) the penalty specified in that table in relation to a prescribed offence is the penalty payable in respect of an infringement notice for the offence.
