32D Independence of Detention Appeals Officers A Detention Appeals Officer — (a) must act independently, impartially and in the public interest in the performance of their functions and duties and the exercise of their powers; and (b) is not subject to the direction or control of the Secretary or the Minister in relation to the performance of their functions or duties or the exercise of their powers under this Act or the regulations.
