177 Authorised officers to give receipts for seized things and samples taken (1) If an authorised officer seizes a thing, or takes a sample of, or from, a thing at any premises under this Division, the authorised officer must give a receipt in the approved form for the thing to the person in charge of the thing or the premises from which it was taken. (2) A receipt in the approved form must— (a) specify the name of the authorised officer; and (b) identify the thing seized or sample taken; and (c) state the reason why the thing was seized or the sample taken; and (d) include any other matters specified in the approved form. (3) If for any reason it is not practicable for an authorised officer to comply with subsection (1), the authorised officer may— (a) leave the receipt at the premises in a conspicuous position and in a reasonably secure way; or (b) send the receipt to the occupier of the premises from where the thing was seized or the sample was taken.
