118A Public health alerts
(1) This section applies if the chief health officer considers it necessary
to take action under this section—
(a) to protect the public from a public health risk; or
(b) to provide a rapid response to a public health risk.
(2) The chief health officer may prepare a written notice (the public
health alert) about the risk and precautions that may be taken by the
public to deal with the risk.
(3) The public health alert is a notifiable instrument.
(4) The chief health officer may also publish the public health alert in
other ways.
