Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This proclamation turns on the main body of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, setting its operative date as 1 July 2014 only if five related consequential Acts receive Royal Assent before then; otherwise the Act starts on 1 January 2015.

It matters because those companion Acts update budget and appropriation law so the new federal financial management, reporting and accountability system can operate, and it affects all Commonwealth entities that must align their finance and reporting systems to the new regime.
