Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This declaration removes employees of the Australian Telecommunications Corporation (the former Telecom Australia) from a special superannuation category called 'productivity employees'.

What this means:

Who it affects: People employed by, or holding statutory offices with, the Australian Telecommunications Corporation
What changes: These workers are explicitly excluded from being classified as 'productivity employees' under Part VIa of the Superannuation Act 1976
Why it matters: The 'productivity employee' classification determines how superannuation contributions are calculated, particularly relating to productivity-based payments. This exclusion means these telecom employees are treated differently from other Commonwealth employees who may receive superannuation contributions based on productivity gains
When it took effect: 1 July 1990
