Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This declaration removes access to bonus superannuation contributions for Australia Post employees. Specifically, it states that employees and statutory office holders of the Australian Postal Corporation are not "productivity employees" under the Commonwealth Superannuation Scheme (CSS).

Under the Superannuation Act 1976, "productivity employees" received extra superannuation contributions (known as productivity contributions) from their employer on top of standard benefits. This declaration excludes Australia Post staff from this category.

Who is affected: Anyone working for, or holding a statutory office with, the Australian Postal Corporation (Australia Post).

What it means: These employees do not accrue productivity superannuation benefits under Part VIA of the Superannuation Act 1976. Their superannuation entitlements are limited to standard CSS benefits without the additional productivity component.
