Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
These regulations set the rules for businesses that want to register to receive government payments for recycling used oil.
Who it affects: Businesses applying for product stewardship (oil) benefits — essentially, government subsidies paid to companies that recycle waste oil.
What you must do: To be approved, you must comply with all relevant Commonwealth, State, or Territory laws about oil recycling. This includes environmental protection laws, workplace safety laws, or any other legislation governing how you handle used oil.
How it works: When you apply, the Commissioner of Taxation (who administers these payments) will check with government agencies responsible for enforcing those laws. If any agency confirms you are breaking the law, your application must be refused.
