48 Recovery of charge
(1) Customs charge or excise charge that is due and payable by a person may be recovered by the Commonwealth from the person as a debt due to the Commonwealth. (2) The Secretary is authorised, on behalf of the Commonwealth, to bring proceedings in the name of the Commonwealth for the recovery of a debt due to the Commonwealth of a kind mentioned in subsection (1).
