Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This proclamation, made by the Lieutenant‑Governor with the Executive Council’s advice under section 2 of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999, sets 14 August 2000 as the date the Act’s provisions commence in Tasmania. It matters because the Act’s legal requirements become binding from that date. The proclamation does not itself create obligations or fees; rather, persons and agencies subject to the Vehicle and Traffic Act must comply from 14 August 2000, and administration is assigned to the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.
