Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This proclamation fixes the start dates for the Strata Titles Act 1998: the Act (except Part 9) commences on 5 June 1998 and Part 9 commences on 31 July 1998. The Governor, acting with the Executive Council under section 2, sets these dates and the Department of Environment and Land Management administers the proclamation. Persons and entities covered by the Act (owners, land managers, conveyancers and developers) become legally bound by its requirements from those dates; delaying Part 9 phases some obligations and gives affected parties extra time to prepare.
