20 General application of information protection principles to public sector agencies
> > (1) The information protection principles apply to public sector agencies.
>
> > (2) The application of the principles to public sector agencies—

> > > (a) may be modified by privacy codes of practice, and
> >
> > > (b) is otherwise subject to this Act.

> > (3) Sections 8–11 do not apply in respect of personal information collected by a public sector agency before the commencement of this Part.

> > (4) (Repealed)

> > (5) Without limiting the generality of section 5, the provisions of the [Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2009-052) that impose conditions or limitations (however expressed) with respect to any matter referred to in section 13, 14 or 15 are not affected by this Act, and those provisions continue to apply in relation to any such matter as if those provisions were part of this Act.
