16 Payment of Commonwealth costs

Payment of Commonwealth costs (1) A recipient body that is paid amounts under section 15 must pay to the Commonwealth amounts equal to the Commonwealth’s costs in: (a) collecting or recovering the amounts covered by paragraphs 15(1)(a), (b) and (c); and (b) administering section 15 in relation to the making of the payments to the body under that section. (2) The Secretary must give the recipient body written notice of: (a) the amount of those costs; and (b) the period within which the body must pay the amount under subsection (1). Debt (3) If an amount payable by a recipient body under subsection (1) remains unpaid at the end of that period, the amount: (a) is a debt due to the Commonwealth; and (b) may be recovered by the Minister, on behalf of the Commonwealth, by action in a court of competent jurisdiction.
