7 Person appearing before judge may request that Act not apply

(1) Where a person who appears before a Judge of the Local Court in relation to a charge that the person has committed a child sexual assault offence makes a request to the judge that this Act cease to apply to the person, this Act shall cease to apply to the person in relation to that charge.

(2) A request referred to in subsection (1) may be made at any stage of proceedings before a Judge of the Local Court relating to a child sexual assault offence.
