28 Exceptional bravery or specially meritorious service

28 Exceptional bravery or specially meritorious service

(1) Despite anything to the contrary in this division, the Commissioner may, on the basis of exceptional bravery or specially meritorious service by a probationary constable or constable—

(a) confirm the appointment of a probationary constable, or

(b) promote a constable to the grade of senior constable.

(2) A police officer whose appointment is confirmed or who is promoted under this section is not eligible for further promotion until the officer satisfies the qualifications for—

(a) the grade the officer is appointed or promoted to under this section, and

(b) the grade of the further promotion.
