127 Persons to be informed of reason for arrest (1) A member of the Police Force who arrests a person for an offence shall inform the person, at the time of the arrest or as soon as practicable thereafter, of the offence for which he is arrested. (2) A member who arrests a person for an offence shall be taken to have complied with subsection (1) if he informs the person of the substance of the offence for which he is arrested, and it is not necessary for him to do so in language of a precise or technical nature. (3) Subsection (1) does not apply to or in relation to the arrest of a person: (a) if that person ought, by reason of the circumstances in which he is arrested, to know the substance of the offence for which he is arrested; or (b) if the person arrested makes it impracticable by reason of his actions, for the member effecting the arrest to inform him of the offence for which he is arrested.
