### 1 Short title and commencement > > (1) This Act may be cited as the [Poisons Act 1971](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-1971-081) . > > > (2) [Subsection (1)](#GS2@Gs1@EN) of [section 2](#GS2@EN) shall commence on the day on which [Part III](#HPIII@EN) commences and [subsection (2)](#GS2@Gs2@EN) of that section shall commence on the day on which [Part V](#HPV@EN) commences. > > > (3) The remaining provisions of this Act (other than this section, [Division 1](#HPII@HD1@EN) of [Part II](#HPII@EN) , and [section 14](#GS14@EN) ) shall commence on such days respectively as are fixed by proclamation in relation to each of those provisions.
