140 Petroleum operations on water authority land S. 140(1) substituted by No. 17/2012 s. 93. (1) In this section, ***water authority*** means an Authority within the meaning of the **Water Act 1989** that has a water district or a sewerage district under that Act. (2) A person must not carry out any petroleum operation on any land that is owned, vested in or managed or controlled by a water authority without the written consent of the water authority. (3) A person must not carry out any petroleum operation that involves work at a depth of more than 0·75 metres below any land that is within 100 metres of— (a) a waterway that is owned by, vested in or managed or controlled by a water authority; or (b) any main drains, sewers, aqueducts, channels or pipelines of a water authority— without the written consent of the water authority.
