#### 16 Functions of President 16 Functions of President > > (1) The functions of the President are— > > > > > (a) to direct the business of the Commission (including determining the places and times for sittings of the Commission), and > > > > > (b) to facilitate the adoption of good administrative practices for the conduct of the business of the Commission, and > > > > > (c) to give directions about, and participate in the development of, the practice and procedure to be followed by the Commission, and > > > > > (d) to manage members in each of the Divisions of the Commission, and > > > > > (e) to appoint medical assessors, merit reviewers and mediators for the purposes of enabling legislation and exercise general direction and control over the exercise of their functions, and > > > > > (f) to advise the Minister about the appointment, reappointment and removal of members and assist in the process of recruitment at the direction of the Minister, and > > > > > (g) any other functions that are conferred or imposed on the President by or under this Act or any other legislation. > > > (2) Without limiting subsection (1), the President has the following functions if appointed before the establishment day— > > > > > (a) to assist in the development of the Commission rules for the Commission to use on its establishment, > > > > > (b) to assign functions to other members appointed before the establishment day (including any Division Head of a Commission Division) with respect to the establishment of the Commission, > > > > > (c) to assign functions to any registrar or other member of staff appointed before the establishment day, > > > > > (d) any other functions as are necessary or convenient to facilitate the establishment of the Commission.
