4A Temporary arrangements for basic salary for 2025–26 financial year
> > (1) For the relevant financial year, the basic salary is the amount equal to the total of the following—
> >
> > > (a) the basic salary in effect on 30 June 2025,
> >
> > > (b) the amount that is 3.5% of the basic salary in effect on 30 June 2025.

> > (2) Subsection (1) applies despite—

> > > (a) section 4, or
> >
> > > (b) a determination made under section 4, whether made before or after the commencement of this section.

> > (3) In this section—

> > relevant financial year means the period—
> >
> > > (a) starting on 1 July 2025, and
> >
> > > (b) ending on 30 June 2026.

> Note—

> The Tribunal, in the “Annual Determination Report and Determination of additional entitlements for Members of the Parliament of New South Wales pursuant to the [Parliamentary Remuneration Act 1989](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1989-160)” dated 22 July 2025, determined that, under this Act, section 4, a member’s basic salary was to be increased by 4% for the 2025–26 financial year. The effect of this section is to limit the increase in a member’s basic salary to 3.5% for the 2025–26 financial year, despite the Tribunal’s determination.
