65 Notice of complaint to Ombudsman (1) If a police complaint is made to a police officer, the officer must: (a) immediately refer it to the officer in charge of the Professional Standards Command; and (b) comply with any general orders or instructions issued under section 14A of the Police Administration Act 1978 relating to the referral of a police complaint. (2) The officer in charge of the Professional Standards Command must give the Ombudsman: (a) written notice of the complaint; and (b) if: (i) the complaint was made in writing – a copy of the (ii) the complaint was made orally – a copy of the statement of particulars of the complaint prepared by the police officer to whom the complaint was made. (3) In the notice, the officer in charge may make a recommendation about the decision the Ombudsman should make under section 66 on the complaint.
