Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this law does:

This is a simple money bill. It authorises the government to take £4 million from Australia's main government bank account (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) and put it into a special trust account called the Invalid and Old-age Pensions Fund.

Who it affects:

Pensioners — People receiving old-age or invalid pensions (the rules for who qualifies are set in separate laws)
Taxpayers — The money comes from government revenue collected through taxes

Why it matters:

This is how the government actually pays for welfare schemes. While other laws decide who gets pensions and how much, this law provides the cash to make the payments. Think of it as Parliament signing the cheque to cover the pension bill for the year.

Key point: This doesn't change pension rules, rates, or eligibility — it simply sets aside ("appropriates") the money needed to pay existing pension obligations.
