sec.218 Minister may invite applications for mining lease over tender sub-blocks
Subject to subsection (2) , the Minister may invite applications for the grant of a mining lease over reserved sub-blocks. Applications may be invited for a tenure covering a group of reserved sub-blocks only if the group forms a discrete area. The Minister is to invite applications by publishing a tender sub-block tenure notice for the tenure in the gazette. A mining lease may cover not more than 20 tender sub-blocks (see section 219 ). A mining lease might be made available by a tender sub-block notice if a mineral deposit in the area had already been identified and sufficient information was already available to justify the issue of a mining lease rather than an exploration permit.
