5Treatment of the Northern Territory

#### 5 Treatment of the Northern Territory For the purposes of this Act: (a) the Northern Territory is to be treated as though it were a State; and (b) the Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory is to be treated as though it were the Parliament of a State; and (c) Ministers of the Northern Territory are to be treated as though they were Ministers of a State; and (d) the laws of the Northern Territory are to be treated as though they were State laws; and (e) the Northern Territory’s courts, tribunals, authorities and officers are to be treated as though they were State courts, tribunals, authorities and officers. > Note: For the significance of paragraphs (d) and (e) see Part 5.1 (application of State laws to Commonwealth‑State offshore areas).
