#### 27A Affidavits by persons unable to read written English 27A Affidavits by persons unable to read written English > If it appears to the person before whom an affidavit is made (the authorised person) that the person making the affidavit (the deponent) is blind, illiterate or otherwise unable to read written English, the authorised person must certify, in or below the jurat— > > > (a) that the affidavit was read to the deponent in the presence of the authorised person, and > > > (b) that it appeared to the authorised person that the deponent understood the affidavit, and > > > (c) that the deponent subscribed the affidavit (by signature or mark) in the presence of the authorised person. > > **s 27A:** Ins 2005 No 28, Sch 5.36 \[2\].
