Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This notice cancels a 1994 instrument and reserves TV broadcast spectrum for non‑profit, community‑run television in eight Australian locations (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Bendigo and Lismore), limited to one community TV service per location. It protects space on the airwaves for volunteer‑run local TV, benefiting community groups and viewers while excluding commercial broadcasters and avoiding competition for commercial licences.
