Norfolk Island Legislation Amendment Commencement Proclamation 2015

This is a formal notice (called a proclamation) signed by the Governor-General that switches on specific parts of the Norfolk Island Legislation Amendment Act 2015.

What it does:

Sets 18 June 2015 as the date when Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Norfolk Island Legislation Amendment Act 2015 comes into force (becomes active law).

Why it matters:

Many laws don't start automatically when Parliament passes them. They need a formal proclamation like this to set the official start date.
This proclamation was part of the process to end Norfolk Island's self-governing status and bring it under the Australian federal system. Part 1 of Schedule 1 contained the initial provisions needed to begin this transition.
Without this document, those specific legal changes would remain inactive, even though Parliament had already passed the parent Act.
