Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This amendment removes a fixed deadline for ships to install wireless telegraphy (radio) equipment.

What it changes:

Originally, ships had to comply with wireless equipment rules by 1 October 1922.
This change replaces that specific date with the words "otherwise prescribed", meaning the deadline can now be set by future regulations rather than being locked in this law.

Who it affects:

Ship owners and operators required to carry wireless telegraphy equipment under the Navigation Act.

Why it matters:

It gives the government flexibility to extend or change compliance deadlines without having to pass new legislation through Parliament. This is a technical, housekeeping change that makes the law easier to administer.
