Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a short legal instrument that removes old maritime safety rules about how ships carry heavy cargo.

What it does:

Repeals (cancels) nine different sets of regulations from 1959, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1985 and 1986
These old rules covered specific technical requirements for transporting pig iron (a type of raw iron), coal, and ballast (heavy material used to stabilize empty ships)

Who it affects:

Shipping companies and ship masters who previously had to follow these specific cargo-loading rules
Maritime safety regulators

Why it matters:

This is regulatory cleanup—removing outdated technical rules that likely became redundant due to newer international shipping standards or updated safety practices
It reduces the volume of old laws on the books, making maritime law simpler to navigate
