Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does This regulation cleans up Australia's maritime laws by repealing (removing) four outdated sets of regulations that are no longer needed.

What's being removed The regulation cancels:

Shipowners' Liability Regulations – old rules about financial limits on shipowners
Protection of the Sea Regulations – outdated pollution protection rules
River Murray Traffic Regulations 1936 – ancient rules for river traffic (from 1936)
Wrecks and Salvage Regulations – old rules about shipwrecks and salvage operations

Why it matters These areas are now covered by modern legislation, so these specific regulations are just clutter. This is purely a tidying-up exercise—it doesn't create new rules or change how the law operates day-to-day, it simply removes obsolete provisions from the statute books.
