Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does: This regulation simply cancels (repeals) a series of outdated rules about ship load lines that were made between 1968 and 1985.

Load lines explained: These are the markings painted on the side of ships (like the famous "Plimsoll line") that show the maximum depth a vessel can be safely loaded to in different water conditions and seasons.

Who it affects: Ship owners, maritime operators, and safety inspectors who previously had to comply with the old regulations.

Why it matters: It cleans up Australia's maritime law books by removing old, superseded rules. The repealed regulations were likely replaced by newer laws, updated safety standards, or international conventions, ensuring that industry only needs to follow current requirements.
