Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation repeals (cancels) the old rules governing how marine engineers were examined for their qualifications. Specifically, it scraps the Navigation (Examination of Engineers) Regulations from 1964, along with amendments made in 1965, 1968, 1969, 1972, 1975, and 1980.

What this means:

As of 1 January 1982, these old examination rules no longer applied
Marine engineers' qualification requirements would have been covered by new regulations or other parts of the Navigation Act 1912
This is essentially a housekeeping measure to tidy up outdated rules
