#### 206M Safety Convention countries may request Authority to issue certificates (1) The Authority may, at the request of the government of a country to which the Safety Convention applies, issue or authorise the issue of, or endorse or authorise the endorsement of, in respect of a ship registered in that country a certificate that, under this Division, it could issue or authorise the issue of, or endorse or authorise the endorsement of, in respect of that ship if it were registered in Australia. (2) A certificate issued or endorsed under this section: (a) shall contain a statement to the effect that it has been issued or endorsed at the request of the government of the country in which the ship is registered; and (b) has effect, for the purposes of this Act, as if it had been issued or endorsed by the government which requested its issue or its endorsement.
