Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does This regulation scraps a long list of old rules (dating back to 1943) that created separate legal frameworks for women serving in the Australian Navy (formerly the Women's Royal Australian Naval Service, or WRANS).

Who it affects Primarily women who served or were eligible to serve in the Navy under these separate regulations, as well as Navy administrators who previously had to apply different rules based on gender.

Why it matters By repealing (cancelling) these regulations, the instrument formally ends the legal separation between men's and women's service in the Navy. It reflects the historical move toward integrating women into the regular naval forces, ensuring all personnel—regardless of gender—are governed by the same service laws rather than distinct "women's services" rules.
