sec.251 Meaning of number on animal authority

Subsection (2) applies if an animal authority— has a number (the stated number ) written opposite a species of animal to which the authority applies; and does not state what the stated number indicates. For each species of animal mentioned in subsection (1) (a) , the authority applies, for the duration of the authority, to no more than the stated number of animals of that species. A harvesting licence has the following words and numbers written on it without any explanation about the meaning of the numbers— carpet python—5 spotted python—2. The licence is for taking or keeping no more than 5 carpet pythons and no more than 2 spotted pythons for the whole duration of the licence. Subsection (4) applies if an animal authority — has a number (also the stated number ) written opposite a species of animal to which the authority applies; and states what the stated number indicates. For each species of animal mentioned in subsection (3) (a) , the authority applies, in the way stated, to no more than the stated number of animals of that species. A rehabilitation permit has the following words and numbers written on it and states that the number indicates the number of animals to which the permit applies at any given time— bar-shouldered dove—3 emerald dove—5. The permit is for obtaining and keeping no more than 3 bar-shouldered doves, and no more than 5 emerald doves, at any given time while the permit has effect.
