Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

During WWII the law centralises control of jute goods by creating a government “Commonwealth Jute Buyer” empowered to buy and sell wool packs, corn sacks and other jute products for the Commonwealth. It affects farmers, supply chains and the military by preventing private hoarding, ensuring fair distribution and stabilising supplies and prices of this strategic material when imports were disrupted.
