Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This determination sets the income cutoffs that let certain household types qualify to rent under the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS): couples, two singles sharing, couples with one child, and single parents with one child. It establishes annual thresholds of $55,991 and $69,989.

That matters because NRAS incentivises landlords to offer homes at 20% below market rent; these limits decide who counts as "low income" and so who can access those cheaper rentals, affecting applicants, providers and housing authorities.
