Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

These regulations set a $1 million cap on specific financial transactions that the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) can undertake.

Under the National Film and Sound Archive Act 2008, the Archive faces restrictions on certain financial dealings (section 39). These regulations define the dollar threshold for those restrictions—meaning the Archive cannot exceed $1 million in the specified transactions without appropriate approvals.

Who it affects: The National Film and Sound Archive, which preserves Australia's film, television, and sound recordings.

Why it matters: This limit protects the national collection and public funds by preventing the Archive from engaging in large-scale financial activities without oversight, while allowing flexibility for smaller, routine transactions.
