22 Transfer of number plates (1) Where the owner of a registered motor vehicle, who sells or disposes of the motor vehicle before the expiry of the registration thereof, is desirous of transferring the number plates to another motor vehicle of the same class to be registered by him in lieu of that motor vehicle, he shall, after the sale or disposal of the first- mentioned motor vehicle within such time as the Registrar allows, apply for registration of the other motor vehicle. (2) Where a number plate is transferred from or to a commercial passenger vehicle, the Registrar shall advise the Director (within the meaning of the Commercial Passenger (Road) Transport Act 1991) of that fact and provide details of the vehicles affected.
