82D Power to serve a notice
(1) An authorised officer may serve an infringement notice on any person that she or he has reason to believe has committed an offence specified by the regulations as an offence in respect of which an infringement notice may be issued.
(2) In this Division ***authorised officer*** means—
(a) an inspector under the **Consumer Affairs Act 1972**;

(b) a police officer;
(c) a person authorised in writing by the Director.

(3) An offence referred to in subsection (1) for which an infringement notice may be served is an infringement offence within the meaning of the **Infringements Act 2006** and the penalty for that offence is the prescribed infringement penalty in respect of that offence.
