#### 11 Effect of Scheme on motor accident compensation claims and limitation periods 11 Effect of Scheme on motor accident compensation claims and limitation periods > > (1) This Act does not limit or otherwise affect the application of the [Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1999-041) in respect of a motor accident injury of a person who is or who is eligible to become a participant in the Scheme, except as specifically provided by that Act. > > > (2) While a person is an interim participant in the Scheme in respect of an injury, time does not run for the purposes of section 109 (Time limitations on commencement of court proceedings) of the [Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1999-041) or a provision of the [Limitation Act 1969](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1969-031) in respect of a cause of action on a claim for damages that relate to the injury or to any other injury suffered by the person as a result of the motor accident concerned.
