308 When MAI policy takes effect—light rail vehicles If a rail transport operator for a light rail vehicle pays the road transport authority an MAI premium for an MAI policy for the light rail vehicle, the MAI policy comes into force— (a) on the next 1 November; or (b) if there is no MAI policy in force for the light rail vehicle when the MAI premium is paid—on the day after the day payment is made.
