5Giving documents

5 Giving documents (1) If a person is required by or under the Act to give a document to an individual or body (the recipient), the person may do so: (a) in a way mentioned in section 25 of the Interpretation Act 1978; or (b) by sending the document by an electronic communication as defined in section 5 of the Electronic Transactions (Northern Territory) Act 2000. (2) If the person does not know the name or address of the recipient: (a) the person may, with the Minister's approval, publish the document at least 3 times at intervals of at least 7 days in a newspaper circulating in the Territory; and (b) the recipient is taken to have been given the document. (3) However, the person is not required to publish the document 3 times if the recipient contacts the person about the document after the first or second publication.
